What are the most common eyesight problems in children?

The most common eyesight problems your child could experience include being unable to see objects in the distance, being unable to focus on objects close up, or distorted vision. Most of these are easily correctable with prescription glasses.

How can I tell if my child needs to see an optometrist?

  • Appears cross-eyed or one eye pulls to the right or left
  • Continual blinking or rubbing eyes
  • Experiences headaches, blurriness or double vision
  • Squinting
  • Eyes that continually water or appear bloodshot Even if it turns out it's nothing to worry about, it's better to be safe.
